Dr. Putz studied law at the University of Mannheim and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam/Netherlands, completing his studies in 2001 with the First State Examination in Law. In 2001/2002, he pursued a joint postgraduate Master’s program at the University of Mannheim and the University of Adelaide, Australia. His subsequent legal traineeship (Referendariat) at the District Court of Mannheim which he completed in 2004 with the Second State Examination in Law, included training periods in Speyer and Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2003/2004, Dr. Putz also completed an additional program in administrative sciences at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. During his training, he worked as a corresponding research associate at the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law in Lausanne and as a legal clerk at the Magistrates Court of South Australia. He was admitted to the bar in December 2004 and has been a partner in our firm since 2005.
In 2017, Dr. Putz received his doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Mannheim with a comparative legal dissertation on property law in Germany and China. For this dissertation, he was awarded the University of Mannheim’s Prize for Language and Scholarship. In December 2024, he was awarded the title of Specialist Lawyer for International Business Law.
In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Putz has worked since 2010 as a publicly appointed and sworn translator for the English language. In 2014, Dr. Putz was appointed as a lecturer at the iba University of Cooperative Education in Heidelberg, where he currently teaches courses on international business law.
Dr. Putz regularly gives lectures in German and English on tax and legal topics at universities and professional associations and also publishes in these fields.
